Contests

Most of my former contests are no longer ongoing as the original hosts have moved on to other projects. Only Picture Book Party continues to operate. It is now run by Mindy Weiss. You can find information about Picture Book Party here.

Otherwise, Query Kombat, Nightmare on Query Street, New Agent, and Sun versus Snow have ceased at this time.  I really enjoyed hosting these contests and the community they created. They were a big part of my evolution as a writer and a person, and I’m glad for years spent helping other writers’ dreams come true with these contests.

Our mission is to showcase the work of diverse and talented novelists while providing a learning environment that unites the writing community through knowledge, kindness, and a little friendly kompetition.

New Agent (Submission: varies)

A special contest to welcome newer agents to publishing. This happens whenever I can get a large enough group of New Agents–usually in July. New agents are a great resource as they are more actively building their client list. Five expert mentors form their own team of Mystery/Thriller, SFF, Contemporary, Romance/WF, or Middle Grade and then host their team on their own blogs for agents to request. I also have a small team. Around 32 entries are picked.

For middle grade, young adult, new adult, and adult. All genres.

Submission varies. Watch my newsletter for updates (#NewAgent).
